While the CESMACH co-op had many women producers, it was often their husbands who were the members on paper. This practice began to change in a bid for equity, empowerment, and recognition of the labour and management being done. The number of women members now includes over 200 individuals and the premiums paid for their microlots go in part toward community projects such as the construction of vegetable gardens and women’s health programs. Grown in the buffer zone of the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, this coffee reflects CESMACH’s standards of quality - offering milk chocolate and cranberry notes in the cup.
